ZIRCONIUM CHLORIDE (ZrCl4): A SIMPLE AND EFFICIENT CATALYST FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF QUINOXALINES

Author(s): J. Madhukar*
Abstract: An efficient and environmental benign process for the synthesis of quinoxalines has been developed. All the reactions were carried out in presence of a catalytic amount of ZrCl4 at acetonitrile reflux. This method is applicable to a variety of diketones and 1,2-phenylenediamines to afford the corresponding derivatives in excellent yields.
