Abstract: Leaves of Crescentia cujete were collected, washed, shade dried and powdered. The ethanol extract was prepared using soxhlet apparatus and the phytochemicals were screened from this crude ethanol leaves extract of Crescentia cujete. The results showed the presence of secondary metabolites such as glycosides, flavonoids, phenols, alkaloids, phytosterols and tannins. Further the extracts were subjected to GC-MS for the identification of bioactive components present in the Crescentia cujete leaves. GC-MS analysis in the ethanol extract of Crescentia cujete leaves was done by using National Institute Standard and Technology (NIST) database 2005 to identify the compounds present. Thirty chemical constituents were identified. The results showed that the leaves containing a wide range of phyto constituents which could be exploited for the development of plant based novel drugs which may help to give treatment and protection from different kind of diseases.
