Abstract: The present study isolated dye degrading bacterial strain from textile soil Tirupur, Tamilnadu. Totally 14 strains were isolated from the sample. Out of 14 bacterial isolates strain NGP10 was selected as potent bacteria which degraded both crystal violet and Safranin dye up to 10mg/100ml with 90.1% of decolourization. Strain NGP10 showed, good degradation in pH 7, temperature 28°C and 10% bacterial inoculums containing medium. The potent strain NGP10 was identified as Bacillus species.
