Abstract: Ruellia tuberosa L. (Acanthaceae) is a tropical perennial plant widely distributed in southeast Asia including Thailand and Laos. R. tuberosa has been used as diuretic, anti-diabetic, antipyretic, analgesic, antihypertensive, thirst quenching and antidotal agent in folk medicines. The present paper describes its antioxidant and anti-diabetic activities.
