Abstract: Aim:To develop two simple, sensitive, rapid, robust and reproducible Spectrophotometric methods for determination of Para-phenylenediamine (PPD) in marketed Hair dyes. Materials and methods: Solvent used is 0.1N NaOH. Folin’s reagent and ninhydrin reagent (were prepared in methanol) is used for analysis of P-phenylenediamine in marketed hair dyes by UV-Visible spectrophotometer at 453nm and 431nm respectively. Result & Conclusion: Regression coefficient values for both the methods were found to be within limits i .e., r2 ≥2. Paraphenylenediamine (PPD) concentration in all the tested brands of hair dyes were found to be within the limits.
