Abstract: The buccal region of the oral cavity is an alternative target for the delivery of the medicine of choice in order to overcome the limitation associated with the other route of administration. The significant pre systemic metabolism, instability in acidic medium, and insufficient absorption of the medications are the drawbacks of oral drug delivery. The transmucosal method offers the advantages of being simple to administer, patient-acceptable, and affordable.
